I completed my Bachelor of Physiotherapy at The University of South Australia in December 2005.  I then moved from Coromandel Valley to the rural seaside town of Portland, Victoria. I had the position of physiotherapist for Portland District Health, working in both private practice and at the public hospital.

In the hospital environment I gained experience with stroke patients, hydrotherapy and orthopedic rehabilitation. I was also the physiotherapist for the Community rehabilitation initiative, this program provided education and support for the community in general but especially the aged with programs to address falls and coping with arthritis.  In the private practice we had the ability to see a range of physiotherapy issues from work related injuries to sporting complaints to motor vehicle accident claims. The single biggest group however was the person who had injured themselves in the course of their everyday life.

As part of my ongoing professional development and desire to treat my patients with the most up-to-date information I completed courses in Hand therapy and Kinesio taping—an internationally recognized technique used by many elite athletes.

Prior to moving to Portland, we had lived in the Coromandel Valley / Blackwood area for almost 15 years.  So we may have left but it’s hardly surprising we returned to such a beautiful corner of the country.

I am currently coaching at U10/11 level for the Sturt Lions Football Club as well as providing a pre-exercise screening session for all new southern members of the Flinders Medical Centre – EFM gym.  I have also had experience with The Blacks, (Adelaide University Football club) assisting the players in minimizing and treating injuries.  In 2001 I had the fortunate experience of being masseur for the Australian Team at World University Games in Beijing, China.
